- Phase 1 2008
- All shooters wishing to tryout are welcome.
- The top 20% in any Long Range Match or Long Range
- Aggregate Match at 2008 Camp Perry shot with an NRA
legal Palma rifle. - The top 10% of any NRA approved Long Range Match at a
State or Regional level shot with an NRA legal Palma rifle. - Eligible shooters shall submit their name, address, email,
phone number and proof of eligibility to (new email and post
address will be available soon) - All shooting members of the 2003 and 2007 Palma, Veterans,
and U25/21 teams are exempted from Phase 1
- Phase 2 2009
The goal of this phase is to evaluate shooters under coaches.- Each shooter shall fire a minimum of 10 strings (1500 points)
under a coach. More strings may be submitted by attending
additional tryout sessions. - Tryout sessions to be held in East Coast, Mid West, and West
Coast venues. Tryouts will be at multiple venues to reduce
the travel cost to the shooter. Shooters may choose the
venues closest to them. As soon as venue locations are
confirmed they will be posted. - Shooter is not responsible for reading wind.
- Shooter is responsible for elevation, ability to call shots
accurately, quickness of shot after command, ability to plot
shots/assist line coach, and team dynamics. - National Touring Team will be chosen from Phase 2
shooters. The number of shooters is TBD at this time. - Shooters are required to travel internationally for a minimum
of one tour. Opportunities are South Africa 2009, England
2009 and 2010, Australia 2010 and Canada 2008, 2009, and
2010. Funding is TBD at this time.
- Each shooter shall fire a minimum of 10 strings (1500 points)
- Phase 3 2010
- From the National Touring Team sixteen shooters and two
reserves will be selected from objective scores and
evaluations from three additional training sessions and one
International tour. - The Captain reserves the right to select one shooter for the
2011 Team. - The Captain reserves the right to pick replacement shooters
or coaches from the Phase 2 session participants should
anyone dropout for any reason after the Team is announced. - Final 16 shooters and 2 reserves will be announced Q3 2010.

- Team Training 2010 and 2011
The 2011 Palma Team will train as a complete team at TBD venues in 2010 and 2011 prior to the 2011 Word Championships in October 2011 in Brisbane, Australia. Click here for more information. - Coach Selection Process
- Phase 1
- This phase will be conducted from Q4 2007 to Q4 2008.
- Coach-candidates will submit resumes and personal
information to the Palma staff. The target is to have a
minimum of 8 coach-candidate applications. - There will be a series of coaching seminars/coaching schools
conducted in 2008. Target dates are 2008-Camp Perry (after
Camp Perry in lieu of the LRFS), and Fall 2008 (location
TBD). - Coaches will be instructed in the rudiments of International
multi-squad coaching.
- Phase 2
- This phase will be conducted from Q1 2009 to Q4 2009.
- Coach-candidates will be expected to attend at least one
shooter-selection seminar. - Coach-candidates assist in the shooter-selection process. As
they do so, they will be evaluated on their ability to read
wind, make decisions, work within a team, and understand
the concept of incorporating a plot sheet into coaching
strategy. - The target number at the conclusion of phase 2 is 6 coach candidates.
- Phase 3
- This phase will be conducted in 2010.
- Coach-candidates will be expected to travel on at least one
overseas team in addition to providing support for the
regional training sessions that will occur during this time
frame. - At the conclusion of the 2010 season, the final coaching staff
(4 line coaches) will be selected
